Twenty years ago, a young woman disappeared without a trace.

There was no body. No confession. No clear motive. And eventually, the case became another forgotten file in a city full of unsolved crimes.

Until now.

When construction workers uncover human remains buried deep in a wooded area, Homicide Detective Steve Dodds is called to the scene. What initially appears to be an old murder quickly becomes one of the most disturbing investigations of his career.

The victim has been buried for nearly two decades—but someone went to extraordinary lengths to make sure she would never be found.

As Dodds begins rebuilding the case from fragments of the past, he discovers that the victim wasn't alone in keeping secrets. Old friendships, broken relationships, missing evidence, unexplained deaths, and carefully constructed lies begin forming a disturbing pattern.

Someone knows what happened.

Someone has been hiding the truth.

And someone doesn't want Steve Dodds asking questions.

The investigation takes Dodds through forgotten police files, abandoned locations, reluctant witnesses, and people who have spent years convincing themselves that the past was finally behind them. But with every answer he uncovers, another piece of the mystery falls into place—and the closer he gets to the truth, the more dangerous the investigation becomes.

Then Dodds discovers evidence suggesting that the murder may have been part of something much larger.

The person responsible may not have disappeared.

They may have simply waited.

Now Dodds faces a race against time to identify a killer who has managed to stay hidden for nearly twenty years. But solving the case could expose secrets that powerful people would kill to protect—and put Dodds himself directly in the killer's sights.

Because some crimes are forgotten.

Some secrets are buried.

And some killers never stop waiting.

THE BURIED TRUTH is the first gripping case in The Steve Dodds Files, a crime mystery series following homicide detective Steve Dodds as he confronts complex murders, buried secrets, and killers who refuse to stay in the past.

Some Killers Disappear. Others Simply Wait.
